PHYSICS RESEARCH LIBRARY:
Computers, Printers, and Photocopiers

COMPUTERS

All computer workstations in the library (with one exception) are reserved for Physics Department students, faculty, and staff. If you do not have a physics account, you will not be able to login to any of these computers. (On questions about physics accounts, please consult Harvard Physics Computer Services.)

If you need to use HOLLIS, send an email, quickly google a topic, etc., you may use the computer near the Jefferson stairwell (adjacent to the photocopier). Please note however that because it is our only public computer, we ask that you be considered of other patrons: please limit your use to 10 minutes if you see other people waiting for it.

There is wireless connection in the library and throughout the physics department, so bring your laptop!

PRINTERS

If you have a physics department account, you may use either the black-and-white or the color printer. We ask that you do not use the color printer for black-and-white jobs. A poster-size printer is also available. For all questions regarding printers, please consult the Computer Services.

The public computer is not connected to a printer. If you do not have a physics account, you will not be able to use any of the library printers. Should you need to print out a HOLLIS page, please ask us: we will gladly print it for you.

PHOTOCOPIERS

Please note that unike other photocopiers in the departent, the library copier does not take departmental code!!!

The only way to use the library copier is with Crimson Cash.

Crimson Cash:
Anyone can set up and use a Crimson Cash account. If you have a Harvard ID, then you already have the account. No sign-up is required: all you have to do is add value to your card.

Physics research groups and other departments can set up Crimson Cash accounts based on their 33-digit account number.

Non-Harvard visitors can purchase cards and/or add cash to their existing cards at one of the VTS locations. The closest VTS machines are in the Loker Commons basement of Memorial Hall and in the Science Center, between Greenhouse Restaurant and Cabot Library.

Full details on all aspects of Crimson Cash can be found at www.cash.harvard.edu.
